Profile: I’m Ashleigh-Rose and at the age of eight I announced to my Mother that for my next fancy dress venture I was going to don the votes for women sash and dress as Emily Pankhurst. A week later armed with plaquard and my nan’s skirt I strode into the hall and never looked back. It took me till the age of nineteen to call myself a feminist and now here I am at twenty three years of age, degree in hand and living in the ever eclectic Brighton town, attempting to be a writer. My writing so far? Well, I have worked with community theatre groups and am proud to say a piece I wrote is currently being used in a schools project in Malawi; I reviewed for a short while for Richmond theatre, which I adored. I have just finished the first draft of my own full length play, and all this in between writing various blog posts. The most important thing I can tell you about me is that I believe in women. I believe the intellectual side of being a female is overshadowed in mainstream media, but I also believe that the freedom and availability of the internet is a fantastic chance to contradict this thinking, so here I go.
